I know of two children, although there may have been a third

One was named Cheryl and the other James. I think James was the oldest and he is buried in Hawaii at the puchbowl cemetary to my understanding as he was a military dependent. Cheryl I think is buried at the cemetary adjacent to the childrens hospital in Glendale, California. I found an envelope in the basement tucked up under the foundation in the back room when we were looking at the big crack in the wall. It had numerous photos of Jim Solomon I HAD NEVER SEEN BEFORE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND APPARENTLY YOUR GRANDMA WANTED NO ONE ELSE TO SEE THEM, EITHER. I put them in the big trunk I left at your mothers house on the way back out here with your grandmother’s cats in the car. Perhaps your dad knows where they are…….if your mom told him. He lived in Indiana and was in real estate. He had a wife and two daughters, one of which looked almost identical to your mother and was not much younger. I “think” that was his only other marriage. He died somewhere around 1999 or so……..but you should remember her talking about that. I really cannot remember when it was because I had no frame of reference time wise for it. He originally was from Georgia. The ONLY thing I remember is that your grandmother told me that your mom sent the usual “photo” christmas card to him using his office address and his wife found it and was very shocked. (so said your grandmother). She contacted Lani and somehow she did see a photo finally of her sister or sisters. I think there was two. I understand his secretary had run interferance for the situation for a long time and of course when he passed away his wife got involved. ?????????????? It amused your grandmother to no end hearing the details. Your mother hired some investigation service in the late sixties to find him and eventually did locate hiim.. I guess was in the summer of 1968 or so, she made arrangements to go meet him. Alice Chambers (your mother’s bridesmaid) went with her and they drove back there from California in Alice’s Volkswagen K. Ghia that was brand new. I remember that because they stopped in SD on the way back and I was taking my band test that week to get into A band from B band. ( a time reference thing, you know) Now this is the catty gossip from your grandmother. She said apparently he had hidden the existance of the family from her and used a fake apartment the real estate company had in its management company. I have NO IDEA about the validity of that stuff, but I guess your mom did not know about the family. I think I remember your mom saying your dad met him at an airport or something once……….but that is vague in my mind. Ask your dad. The word Jim Solomon was taboo in the household so we had little data about him. If it was BAD, then we heard it and if it was good, we did not. I know they had a 1938 Plymouth and drove from California to Georgia in it, and then lived In Chatanooga, Tennessee and finally in Indiana where I think they split up. It could have been before that, but I was never priviledged with that information. I wish I knew more, but that is about my sum total of my information. I was pretty shocked to see the new photos of him, though. My cousin Lesly was helping me that last couple days and we carried the trunk up the stairs and put it in my car. He was a pretty good looking guy and Les really was astonished at how “centerfold” material he was. I understand he was a patient in the hospital where your grandmother was a nurse and they married very quickly. He was young and did the all night drinking stuff and you know your grandmother’s views on that. Apparently he finally grew up and made a good life in Indiana. But, I am sure your dad can tell you more about it as Lani would have been more vocal to him about it than any of us. You can ask your Aunt Jo, as she may know more than I do. I doubt it, though – Pete Zeimet
