Dear Mums and Dad, A few lines. Received your many letters and the beautiful card and boy how they were enjoyed. A few things to tell you, 1. James graduated from the Ranger school and came thru ok.
The military secret can now be told, James and I were married Jan 23 somewhere in the Hawaiian Isles. The best man is now in the (censored) Isles (Hope you don”™t mind).
Frank Barnes is ok. Just cut off some more of his leg so they could get some skin, as they couldn”™t do this when he first was hurt as he was in shock. He is in good spirits. His Dr”™s name is Col. Roberson.
The Red Cross called for me as I have been very sick but now am better so will tell you. Have been in bed for five weeks. Had 22 intravenous in 10 days. I can”™t keep food down so well. My stomach turned like it did before when I was so sick, remember all to acid, but that is all cleared up. Am being careful. James came up an hour on my birthday. One of the girls baked me a cake and a Captain and a Col. that are patients sent me some very pretty flowers. I have had many pretty flowers and some cards. I may come back to the mainland and may be out of the Army until I get better. But it can”™t be helped. Love -AraBelle PS -I would write to Kelly but am not up to writing now.
