Friday April 9.1943
Dear Folks, Just a few lines to let you know I saw Frankie. I went out in a Jeep and it rained all the way, but didn”™t get too wet. I just got to see him for a few minutes as they were giving him a transfusion. He looked quite well, rather pale, but in a good mood. He said he thought he would go back in the near future to the mainland and wanted to know if he could get me anything. Why to let him know and in his condition and thinking of other people, guess he”™s just good hearted. He told me how it happened. They were moving a large vault downstairs and it slipped pinning him under it, pulling off his leg, breaking and crushing his elbow and the left side of his skull. His right side came out ok. Said he had written me twice, funny thing I didn”™t receive them. Jr is out on his first week of Ranger training sure hope he comes thru ok. He gave me some pictures of himself when a civilian and boy does he look swell in a suit. He was over Sunday we went to the bird zoo and to a concert in the park. I want to get my hair cut but Jr says no. But I think I can get around him. Don”™t you? Bye now and Aloha -AraBelle
