LETTER: March 24.1943
March 24.1943
Dear Mum and Dad, Am listening to the radio, it”™s a brass band broadcast from the states, made for Halloween, a wee bit late but enjoyable. We are now just receiving the Christmas broadcasts. So we listen to Christmas songs in March and like it too. We take what comes, even the Japs, ha. I”™m rereading one of your letters. I ran across the questions. The picture I sent that looked like Hot Springs is on the way downtown, going across the coast. The hard part of town too I must say. The other picture you ask what it was, I can”™t remember what one it was now, give me a description. I had to laugh at what you said about the cow named Bob. That was a cute name for the other calf. I would tell Bob about you naming the calf after him, but you know he can”™t catch on so good to our American sense of humor. I told him once about him “snowing me” when he said he thought I was cute and he wrote back and asked me what I meant by “snowing me” for all he knew I may be saying something bad about him. You saw Song of the Islands. Remember the fat girl in the picture? Well that was Hilo Hattie, well anyhow I”™ve sent you pictures of her I know, one where she is on a horse doing a hula. She is from here and I have seen her dance many times. Dopey”™s wife is named Saki Fuyiamo. Mrs. Wilkie finally received the cards and was so thrilled. She has been very poorly and she wakes and worries over the boys so much. She is the mother of them all you know. Aloha -AraBelle (Hello Bingo)
