TIME CAPSULE 12.22.1942
TIME CAPSULE: Rank in 1942, Army nurses continued to hold relative rank however, their pay and allowances still were not on par with male commissioned officers and other female officers of the Army and Navy. Congress still balked at granting Army nurses commissioned rank. Instead, they sought to rectify the discrepancy by passing the act [name of the act???] of 12.22.1942. This law mandated that Army nurses would have relative rank from the grades of second lieutenant to colonel but would be paid the same salary as men of the corresponding commissioned rank without the extra allowance for dependents.
