Time Capsule: December 1, 1942


December 1, 1942 Gasoline rationing begins nationwide. An “A” sticker receives the lowed allocation, four gallons a week. A “C” sticker signified essential driving and receives an additional allowance. Automobile traffic does decline, but train travel becomes more crowded and uncomfortable. Gasoline rationing also gives rise to a black market. An Album of Memories pg 223
