Dear Diary, The next day on duty, well the ward is a mess.

So in ah goes to see what the tribe looks like ”˜cause one never knows when it is dark and there a lot of them are pretty bad, but ah dear diary, thar is one oh he is so cute. I think I adopt him. His name is James Leonard Solomon, but I thinks the L should stand for Leopold and so ah calls him Junior. Cute little heart throb and he hails all the way from Georgia Mah! Mah!
The war is OK ah guess. The allies are doing OK. Oh yes Jr got into some oyster stew and got sick all over again, dern him. Well they gave him worm medicine today (Yes, confidentially diary, he has hookworm.) So to town I goes and gets him four blue roses (yes, blue, he wanted ”˜em) and a bottle and nipple. Caught him gambling too, took all his change $5 in all and gave him a spankin”™

but of no avail he dood it again.
Got Jr his cake, my was he tickled with it, said it was the best he ever had. Sure glad we got to go out this afternoon. We manned our battle stations all this morning. They are playing battles again. We stood out and watched the shooting last night, beautiful but oh the mosquitoes -wow.
Saw the show Mrs. Miniver real good, cried and had to use Jr”™s cap of which he didn”™t appreciate, but ah used it anyhow, so there too!!! My radio broke, darn it and try to get one fixed over here in war time. I went to the opening of the new Rec. Center for Service by the Navy, really swell. Enjoyed myself very much. Had movies of us taken. Commander Bagley and all the

big shots including Admiral Nimitz was there and such a beautiful show later the name is The Breakers.
