Dear Mums and Dad, A few lines this morning, 1:30 a.m. and all is well. Your PS”™s were swell the pictures grand, the flowers are really pretty. The horse should be named Bomber. Most of the dogs over here are named Tujo and Blackout. The colt isn”™t as pretty as Queenie was. Bingo looks frightfully skittish you know.
I received a letter from Sted. Sounds like he is lonesome, he should be here, then he would really think he had it hard. He sent a picture and confidentially a uniform does not add to his looks. In fact his ears, well you can guess. He thinks I wear a neat uniform. The Navy nurses really wear a neat uniform boy it looks like an Admirals, only drawback they have to wear white hose with their dress suit.
I am going to get my Christmas card sometime this week and try to buy my Christmas present next month. I met a new boy, really better looking than Gerald, black hair and eyes, lived in North Dakota but now in California. You know there are too many men. I”™m like Jesus, I love them all, nasty habit, but there are so many swell guys. This new boy is really a heart throb, will send pictures of him next week.
Now I have a problem. I promised to wait for Gerald, couldn”™t hurt Johnnie for the world and sorta like this new Jr -he is coming up for an officers rate soon, he was a metal smith officer, now he wants to change so has to be busted down and start over again, but at that he makes about $150 per month. What would you suggest to do with all these men? If you have any clues, please send.
Too bad about Dad”™s finger, but after the crack he made about the women and a knife I don”™t know. I plan on getting a movie camera, to get some pictures in colors of the place; I am also going to get the reel of P.H. Bombing and the eruption of the volcanoes. They can be obtained for $5 each, having about 500 feet of film on them.
Say never mind about the bras, if you haven”™t already secured them. I managed to get two of them but would so much like to get a supply of pants, you know those comfy snug type with legs, they are knit, you know like the two piece underwear. I will send some money for them the first. Did I tell you I put $50 away in savings last month? Boy am I proud of me, plan on $30 next month, I hope. Those weeds with hats on in the pictures are pretty swell “weeds.” no?
What is Richard Duncan”™s address, would like to see him, just wonder if a uniform helped him. You know I never did hear from the boy in Jacksonville, Florida, his letter came back, with insufficient address. The Navy officer was a man whose wife I took care of when in training. He went thru the Coral Sea and Midway battle too, so was quite interesting to talk to, only he never said much, regulations you know.
I imagine Dad can still beat me, ”˜cause I just don”™t do such things as run anymore and the rate my foot is going, it will be one long time. Steps are the only thing I have real trouble with and swelling sometimes I think it”™s going to bust, but shoot I”™ve nothing to gripe about, seeing some of the others. Try and see the Shores of Tripoli and don”™t miss Submarine Raider it shows some swell Pearl Harbor shots, the December 7th Blitz and the actual sinking of a Jap carrier -good show.
Gerald is in the heat of it all now and his position is a dangerous one. Out on top, gunning ”˜em down, I am a little worried, ”˜cause it”™s been so long and no word. We had turkey the other day at 60 cents per lb. but not the turkey we have at home. Write.
