Dear Folks:
Well, yes I”™m really writing. I have been in a rut and very unsettled for a few days, but time will take care of that. Very beautiful up here, reminds me of the Black Hills. We have beautiful walks and trails to follow here on our time off. From where we are we have a grand view of the whole place, so we don”™t miss a thing. Our head nurse is so sweet and very nice. I have a roommate so today we went down and got some spreads they are green with white sail ships. When we get off again we are going to get curtains. We were lucky we got one of the larger rooms. Boy one couldn”™t ask for more beautiful place. Just like a summer resort. We eat out on one of the open porches, real swanky.
Got the stockings. Thanks so much. I got my new blue uniforms (dress) which is much cooler and am going to try and get my new tan one made soon. I got my blue overcoat, real nice and cut princess style and it has a zipper lining in it, only it”™s a little big so I can wear it like they do these new French coats, which is the latest style.
Got my Christmas cards this month, put $10 away so now have the grand sum of $60, which is very good for me, don”™t you think. I sent you a package for your anniversary, hope you get it. Wanted to get something else but they were rather low on things over here at the time. Sometimes we have plenty and then sometimes we don”™t, but we”™re happy, or else we don”™t have good sense.
The ferns here are as thick as grass and almost shoulder high, some very beautiful and rare flowers here. We also pick our own bananas outside the door.
Saw Slip, he comes around quite often and we have a dance or two and we are planning a picnic. He has put in for commando duty. He is going to have a picture taken in his suit and he said we would get one. I met some of his friends. He is so polite, calls me Miss Fuller and asks my permission to introduce his friends; he is quite the kid I guess. (He calls me Miss Fuller in public and then whispers in my ear “Hi Shorty”) He met Jr and does not like him; he likes Joe better and wants me to go with Joe, which tickles me very much. Did you get the picture of Joe I sent to you?
Bye now. Love – AraBelle
PS – Attached is a cartoon of an airplane factory with a socialite type woman asking, “Can you tell me which one is made from the aluminum donation from Finchville, South Dakota?”
PSS ”“ I”™ve enclosed your wages for the month – a 15 cent check. Ha Ha
