Dear Folks: Received some letters you mailed June 10 and I got them July 9. No wonder me long time no hear from you. I am now back here at my home station, but so far no workie. I was going to get my hair cut and Johnnie said if I did he would shave me bald headed. He seems to think my hair belongs to him, anyhow after that challenge I went down and had a little nipped off. The next time I saw him I noticed he kept looking at my hair and finally he crossed one eye and said “come here, now young lady did you or did you not get your hair cut?” Of course I said no, just had it curled tight.
Well he gave me some hard looks and said he couldn”™t tell me what he was thinking ”˜cause it wouldn”™t be healthy. So goes my life, shucks.
I sent Bev Pitts a puka shell lei necklace, six strands. They are quite the thing here. If things didn”™t cost so much, I would send more things to people back there, but it is $6 for a pair of beads like I sent Bev, $5 to $7.50 for a purse, $26.50 for a print dress. Boy I”™m telling you they really sock you. How would you like to pay $53 for a pair of pants? But we are lucky we can get the stuff I guess.
Yes, I received the rabbit”™s foot but never saw Slip to give it to him. I met a boy the other day that used to be at Three Creek Camp and his home was Sioux Falls. We had quite a chat.
I wrote to Mrs. Boysen also to Sted and sent the Richmond”™s a card. I am going to send you a paper called the Med Journal. I hope you enjoy it. Johnnie and Jr both say, “no she isn”™t spoiled, she just wants her own way -always or else!”
If you get a chance, see the show the Song of the Islands with Betty Grable and Hilo Hattie (the queen of the Hula dancers of the Islands.) Real pretty in color. You must see it and see how pretty it is in the islands. Johnnie may go back to Pensacola for air flight school. Sure hope he takes it, but he don”™t want to leave here, the monkey. They are removing the varnish from the floor in the next room and boy one can”™t hear himself think the noise is almost as bad as the December 7 raid. Well do write. Tell all hello.
