My Dear AraBelle, Well I have finally found time to write you the letter I promised you. By the way, a very Merry Christmas to you ”“ it is a lot different Christmas than what I ever expected to spend, but then it is Christmas. Well of all the places I thought I would end up, I didn”™t guess it would be back in Hickam. It was just like old home week seeing all the boys again. Things are sure going swell here. And boy are we ready for the Japs ”“ but surely they won”™t be so foolish as to try it again ”“ But if they do ”“ well the population of Japan is sure going to be diminished.
When I first started to write this letter I wanted to make it long and interesting. But then I never was very good at writing letters. So maybe this letter will be a flop. But I really do want to write to you ”“ if you get to answer ”“ just send it to me here in the 4th Squadron. Well, I guess I will have to quit this enjoyable pastime and mail this.
