Dear Diary,
Miss McMasters is on night duty at this time. Miss Adams is on days with our day ward boy, a little Italian boy, a working fool if ever there was one. Nothing exciting here at present, just cleaning up the remains of those who died and lord only knows there was plenty of them. Airplanes drone overhead and give us the jitters, especially the ones at night. The building I”™m in now
was one of the many that got hit. They say it was caused from our own fire from anti-aircraft. Well could be. Off and on we have an occasional air raid, the only trouble we have is trying to make the boys stay inside, some stood out on the porch the 7th and the result was, they were machine gunned to death. They are painting the buildings now nearly every color of the rainbow, so as to disguise them. Makes us all feel a lot better too.
This patient had over 50 shrapnel holes in his head. He received the Purple Heart. Sent back to USA.
